How not to subordinate the artistic creativity to the critical judgment and to the taste of others?
After some mental divagation about the subject and many subway trips:
-Evolutive Creative Isolation
To close himself gives to the individual the ability to be autonomous, and consequently original, and faithful to himself since he retracts himself and focuses about his personal issues.
The evolutive isolation is the ability that the individual has to wander around this world, absorb the maximum information and when isolated to select that information and turn it into substance using the various means available, being this substance a part of his human nature. It is primordial to fight the lost of the artistic muchness of the being. It's a long process of abstraction of what you see to what you do, in which mnemonic art has a fundamental part. The memory of the individual is stimulated by exterior visual and aesthetic means but it's when the individual isolates himself that he can create a distance of what is done by others and initiate a creative process that comes from the inside to the outside. Is to transform the influences into feelings and not into copies. The isolation allows the creation of master pieces and the individual conserves his muchness.
The concept of muchness- Muchness is a personal and intransmissible quality that his endangered. Is reveled in the individual intimate, a group of values and lines of thought, that turn this individual unique and extraordinary. Those who have muchness tend to be wise, dynamic, sensible and deep individuals with a high level of insanity. Since they've managed to keep this quality is highly likely that they're misunderstood but also admired. Muchness is very easy to lose. He who does not possess muchness does not deserve to be admired, is just another ordinary being.
The human society diminishes the individual and makes harder the rise of the personal creativity. The phenomenon of the diminution of the artistic individual is carried out by two agents:
- The Loved Ones
The lack of interest and enthusiasm of those who are close to us is one of the main reasons that leads the artist to doubt himself, his value and his place in the world. The support of loved ones is very important to create confidence but alone is not enough. The individual tends to get away and close himself before those who make him feel misunderstood, regardless of the affection he may feel for them. The knowledge of others comprehension of his work is necessary to feed his dynamic. It's important that he feels that he can and must express his thoughts from the inside to the outside and from the outside to the inside, meaning this that he can discuss and think ideas with those who surround him, otherwise his isolation becomes useless and the creative process stays stuck inside the individual.
-The Other Ones
Represent the unknown and influence the ambition of the human being. Being successful, be recognized and be accepted are
inherent characteristics of the individual, who tends to subordinate his creativity to the fondness of the masses in a way to achieve success. There is a thick line between ambition and staying true to personal creativity since most of the times they are irreconcilable. The artist ends up losing his creative individuality in the pursuit of success, being carried away by trends and references that he tries to copy.
Is essential that the artist creates isolated and in a subjective way because only then he can be carried away by his own sensations and feelings and create a distance from what was already created by others. Opinions instill diversions and questionings. When we create something from a reference and not from our subjective perception of that reference we fatally fall into a process of similarity that leads to the comparison of our work to others. Comparisons destroy us. They still our individual.
